In a robbery attack on the convoy of an Abia monarch HRH Eze Engr. Ude, who was believed to be in the company of four others, one person was reportedly killed.
According to reports, the incident occurred near Abia State University (ABSU) on Uturru Road in the Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
According to unconfirmed sources, the deceased was named as Okehi, who died on the spot while the traditional ruler sustained grievous gunshot wounds.
Also, according to reports, the robbers set up an ambush along the ABSU-Uturu route and opened fire when they saw the victims.
The victims were allegedly on their way into Isuikwuato from Okigwe when they were ambushed by the gunmen.
The incident occurred a few meters from where they sell cashew nuts that branch off to Ihube and the stretch before the military checkpoint leading to ABSU gate, according to sources.
As of the time of reporting, the traditional ruler and other survivors were allegedly undergoing treatment in an unidentified facility.
