A final-year Kano varsity student slumps and died in a hostel.

Babangida Ahmad, a final year student of Bayero University Kano’s Department of Library and Information Science, has died.

Ahmed died on Friday, January 28, 2022, according to a statement from the University’s Deputy Registrar for Public Affairs, Lamara Garba.

According to his roommates, the deceased, who hails from Misau town in Bauchi state, fell at his hostel in the early hours of Friday while preparing to go to mosque for the early morning prayer.

“According to one of his colleagues, the late Ahmad left the room at 4:30 a.m., when he abruptly slumped and was not breathing with no sign of life even before getting to the University Clinic on campus,” the statement said.

“He was claimed to have been taken to the University Clinic in a state of death.”

According to the statement, the deceased had been to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital before to his death, where he had been seeing a doctor for an unidentified ailment.

According to medical records, he has visited Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital seven times in the last year, the most recent visit being on January 10th, 2022.

Meanwhile, the body had been taken to his hometown for burial by University Management.

On behalf of the University Management, Vice Chancellor Sagir Abbas expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and friends, and prayed to Almighty Allah for Jannatul Firdaus.

Babangida Ahmad was remembered as a warm-hearted, humorous, and kind man who got along well with his coworkers.
